Developing thoughtful work that is meaningful and personal. Your starting point will be an object of sentimental value, working directly from the object, photographs or drawing, you will create a delicate textile collage using layering and hand stitch.

Emily will help you make a composition to work from and offer advice and reassurance so you can make good choices depending on your experience.

With an emphasis on really looking at the subject, you will learn how you can cut accurate shapes, build tone, leave space. How you can draw and write and paint on the silk organza to transfer images or text successfully. You will experiment with different approaches to stitching the pieces together, both for construction and decoration.
